Vacation Time

Vacation Time

We all need time away from work to relax and recharge. You are eligible to accrue Vacation Time, and it’s all YOURS to use however you want.

You can use vacation for time away from work however and whenever you’d like (with your manager’s approval). Plus, with the Wolters Kluwer holiday calendar you have five floating holidays that give you additional flexibility to take time off.

Your Vacation Time checklist

  • Take advantage of your paid Vacation Time: This is your time to take a break and recharge, and it’s an important part of caring for your overall well-being.
  • Track your time: Refer to the timekeeping system available through Workday to see the number of vacation days available based on your years of service and location, and track your time used.
  • Plan ahead and speak with your manager: Schedule your Vacation Time with your manager in advance and work to ensure all business needs are covered while you are away. Ask about any special rules that may apply to your division.
  • Consider your Vacation Time needs: If you feel you may need additional Vacation Time, you may purchase additional days. You can only buy additional vacation days during Annual Enrollment, so it’s important to plan ahead.
  • Review other time away from work policies and programs: Vacation Time is for you to enjoy time away from work. For other needs, such as illness or caregiving, refer to the Sick Time and Caregiver Leave policies.
  • Check the policy: Please refer to the Vacation Time policy, posted on the Workday Help, for specifics (including if your state allows for any unused days to carry over to the next year).

Eligibility

If you are scheduled to work at least 20 hours per week, you are eligible for Vacation Time beginning on your date of hire.

Accruing Vacation Time

As a full-time employee, you accrue paid Vacation Time based on your work location and tenure with the company. To see your maximum annual accrual, refer to the Vacation Time policy on Workday Help. The policy also indicates if your state allows for any unused accrued Vacation Time to carry over into the next year.

Note for part-time employees: If you are regularly scheduled to work at least 20 hours per week but less than 40 hours per week, your Vacation Time will accrue based on your full-time equivalent percentage.

Want more Vacation Time?

During Annual Enrollment each year, you may purchase an additional week of vacation to use in the next calendar year after you’ve used your accrued Vacation Time. You pay for these additional “buy-up” days through pre-tax payroll deductions throughout the year. Learn more.
