Paid Caregiver Leave

Paid Caregiver Leave
If you’re caring for a family member, there may be times when you need to concentrate on their needs instead of worrying about time off. This option provides you with flexibility while allowing you to focus on what’s important — being there for your loved one.

Your Caregiver Leave checklist
- Use Caregiver Leave to care for a close relative: This leave provides up to one week of leave paid at 100% of your regular salary to care for a close relative, including, but not limited to, a parent, sibling, spouse/domestic partner, grandparent, or grandchild with a serious health condition.
- Apply for Caregiver Leave: Refer to the Request a Leave section of this guide.
- Notify your manager as soon as possible: This ensures smooth continuation of business so your responsibilities will be covered while you are away.
- Review other time away from work policies and programs: You may also be eligible for unpaid job protection under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
- Check the policy: Please refer to the Caregiver Leave policy, posted on the Workday Help, for more details, including who you can provide care for and how to request a leave.
Eligibility
You must be a full-time employee who has worked at Wolters Kluwer for at least one continuous year and worked 1,250 hours in the past 12 months.
How long it can be used
You do not need to take leave all at one — you can take leave one day at a time. However, Caregiver Leave cannot exceed more than one week during any 12-month rolling period (measured backwards from the first day of your leave).
Benefits while on leave
Your Wolters Kluwer benefits in effect the day before your leave will continue, with the amount you pay in contributions deducted from your Caregiver Leave payments.
Concurrent leaves
If you are covered by Caregiver Leave and FMLA, the two leaves will run concurrently. This means if you are on Caregiver Leave, which provides salary continuation, and FMLA, which provides job protection, you will be covered under both leaves at the same time.
